I found a great capacitive pen that can be used with the various touch enabled devices like the iPad, Windows 8 Touchscreens, and Android devices.  It is called the Adonit Jot (http://www.amazon.com/s/?ie=UTF8&keywords=adonit+jot&tag=mh0b-20&index=aps&hvadid=865074282&ref=pd_sl_1nu6dw1ap9_e  ).  There are models ranging in price from ~$19 – ~$89.  The higher end model has Bluetooth and is enabled with pressure sensitivity.

So far, I have tested the inking functions in Word, PowerPoint, Excel and Acrobat and I am very satisfied with the performance.  If you have a touchscreen interface, I do recommend getting a Jot.

UPDATE
Adobe Photoshop treats the Jot touch as a mouse cursor.  To actually use the Jot for Photoshop, i.e. painting, hold down the left mouse button.
