Information Systems staff will perform an upgrade to Sakai, Wake Forest University’s learning management system, over the winter break. The expected upgrade date is January 5, 2013 and is dependent upon issue resolution and user testing. If we determine that the upgrade must be performed on a later date, detailed communications will be sent to you about the date change.

During the upgrade, Sakai will be unavailable for one working day.  All existing course and project sites and their content will be retained.  The new version of Sakai will provide increased functionality, including improved Profile and Assignments tools, an enhanced content editor with increased math capabilities, and a choice of Gradebooks. The new Assignments tool better integrates with the Gradebook and the additional Gradebook tool allows lowest grades to be dropped  from a category and gives the option of an extra credit feature.

More information about the upgrade details, improvements, new features, and learning opportunities will be forthcoming. We are sending this information now to help you plan for the upcoming semester.
